Mercury glass is all about the flecks: silver speckling suspended inside the glass that breaks a candle flame into dozens of small reflections. Volens has applied it to a soft antiqued green, and the result is a holder that looks good lit and still looks good empty on a shelf in daylight. It is a finish that flatters a formal reception and a Tuesday night dinner equally.

The set contains 24 round holders, each roughly two inches across the top and two inches tall, sized for standard tea lights, votives, floating candles and flameless LED candles. Lead-free glass is used throughout, with a thickened wall and a weighted base that resist cracking from heat and keep the holders from tipping on a crowded table. Each one arrives individually wrapped in bubble wrap inside the box.
